Nissan outlines electric car charging for the USA

Japanese car maker Nissan will team up with the Sumitomo Corporation for the sales and marketing of its new DC Quick Charger in the USA.

The DC quick charging unit is newly developed and offers the high performance of the existing quick charger despite being nearly half its size by volume. Indeed as the new charger unit is much smaller in size, it occupies less space and allows for easier installations. It is also expected to cost much less than the existing model.

The move follows on from Nissan’s recently announced efforts to accelerate its European quick charging network. It has announced that it will offer 400 new quick charging stations free of charge to electric vehicle charging operators (see article).

Currently Nissan and Sumitomo are working together to devise a marketing plan for the product. The plans are expected to be announced in the near future.
