GM to debut new Chevrolet Spark

The 2013 Chevrolet Spark will take centre stage at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.

The original version of the Spark is already on sale in Europe, Asia,Mexico, South America and Africa, but is now making its debut in the United States and Canada where it will be powered by a 1.2litre dual-overhead cam four cylinder engine with variable valve timing. It boasts 85hp and torque of 111Nm.

In addition to the highly efficient engine, the vehicle includes a standard five-speed manual transmission; with a four-speed automatic transmission also available.

Technology is a central selling point too. General Motors has already touted the vehicle as the only car in its segment to offer a seven-inch colour touch screen radio with smart phone-based navigation. It includes the MyLink infotainment system that features personalised connectivity of Pandora and Stitcher internet radio.

The new Chevrolet Spark goes on sale in the USA and Canada in mid-2012.
