TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk is proud to announce that it has been awarded a Green Apple Award as part of a national campaign to recognise Britain’s greenest companies, councils and communities.
The website, up against more than 500 other nominees, went onto claim Gold in the Auto category of the awards which were handed out at a ceremony in the House of Commons on Monday (November 14, 2011).
The ceremony was hosted by The Rt Hon Liz Kendall, MP, and the presentations were made by Chris Hopkins of Ploughcroft Solar; who gained recognition on Dragons Den this year.
With a focus on low emission motoring and alternative fuel cars, the online guide will now go on to be considered to represent the country in the European Business Awards for the Environment. The Green Apple Awards are one of the few approved feeder awards for the European honours.
TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk, launched in 2007, has worked tirelessly over the course of the past four years to become a hub of green motoring information, featuring reviews of the latest low emission and alternative fuel vehicles, up-to-the minute news, in-depth features and interviews with industry figureheads. Its Green Apple Award was given in recognition of its efforts to help drivers keep up -to-date with the latest developments in greener motoring and champion industry efforts to reduce environmental impacts.
The Green Apple Awards were established in 1994 by The Green Organisation-an independent not-for-profit environment group- to recognise and promote environmental best practice. Judges for the award are drawn from the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and other independent bodies.
TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk’s editor Faye Sunderland says: “We’re incredibly proud to have been given a Green Apple Award. It is an exciting time to be involved in sustainable transport and we feel privileged to be able to cover how the motor industry is working to reduce its environmental impact and produce cleaner, more efficient vehicles.
“There isn’t a day goes by when we don’t learn of some new exciting development, and we work hard to ensure our readers have access to practical greener motoring advice that can help them improve fuel efficiency today as well as explore the futuristic ideas which may drive us to a cleaner tomorrow,” she adds.
