Toyota announces Prius C debut

The North American International Auto Show in Detroit will be the setting for Toyota to debut its new Prius C.

The subcompact member of the Prius family will be added to a line-up that includes the Prius Liftback hybrid vehicle; the new Prius V midsize hybrid; and the Prius Plug-in Hybrid model. It is expected that the Prius C will offer fuel economy surpassing the 50mpg barrier.

In addition, the Prius C will boast a number of innovative features. Among them will be: Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity; steering wheel audio controls; and nine airbags. It will also include the Toyota Entune multimedia system as an option – this leverages the mobile smartphone and allows users to connect with popular apps while providing access to real-time information services, such as live weather, traffic and fuel information reports.

The 2012 North American International Auto Show takes places in January, 2012.
