Start-stop systems are no longer a technological niche – they’ve firmly gone mainstream as proven by Exide Technologies.
The company has announced the production of its 2,500,000th micro hybrid battery in Europe. Its advanced lead acid batteries feature in vehicles with start-stop systems and are produced in Italy and Spain.
Back in 2004, Exide Technologies was actually the first in the market supplying an absorbent glass mat technology based micro-hybrid battery for the Citroen C3. Then in 2009 it introduced the Enhanced Cycling Mat technology that is used by European carmakers in their start-stop systems. Both technologies are 100 per cent recyclable.
Currently, there are 10 European car manufacturers using Exide AGM and ECM batteries; making Exide the second largest supplier in Europe. Its batteries allow for deep cycling combined with high charge acceptance and support energy recuperation and intelligent charging.
