Huge sales target for Ford Transit Connect Electric

It was just yesterday that we told you about the early sales success of the Ford Transit Connect Electric (see article) – but it appears its ambitions do not end there.

Azure Dynamics has now signed a letter of intent with RohneSelmer AS to import and distribute as many as 400 Ford Transit Connect Electric vans annually. Though it is not a purchase order, it does set into motion a collaborative effort to reach a distribution agreement in the coming weeks.

Back in March, RohneSelmer supported Azure’s initial European Ford Transit Connect Electric sale of 58 vans – 20 of which went to PostNorway. It also placed an order for 100 additional vans.

Now, the letter of intent indicates that RohneSelmer will submit purchase orders with a target of up to 400 vans annually.

The Transit Connect Electric uses a lithium-ion battery pack from Johnson Controls and can achieve a range of 50-80miles on a single charge. It has a load capacity of 530kg and a top speed of 75mph. It went into production in Europe in June following an introduction in North America back in April.
