Good news for anyone who feels priced out of the electric car market – CODA Automotive has decided to offer a cheaper version of its 2012 CODA Sedan.
It will continue to offer the original version of the CODA Sedanwith a 36kWh battery and 150mile range for $39,900. However, it has also introduced a new 31kWh battery option with a range of 125miles and a price tag of $37,250. This means that with Federal tax savings the price of the electric car is cut to $29,750 – and it could be available for even less with further state tax credits.
In addition, the vehicle features a 6.6kW onboard charger that offers a 100mile charge in just four hours.
According to Phil Murtaugh, the CEO of CODA Holdings, research shows that the high cost of electric cars is one of the main reasons that drivers are not buying the vehicles. He hopes the new price tag will offer a solution to potential consumers.
The first deliveries of the CODA Sedan are scheduled to start in February.
