Kia introduces two electric vehicles

The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas,Nevada, will be the setting for Kia Motors to unveil two electric vehicles.

The Korean carmaker will use the event to showcase both its Kia Ray Electric Vehicle, for the first time in North America, and its Naimo Electric Vehicle concept car. Both will include an advanced lithium polymer battery pack; while the Kia Naimo also features the User Centred Driving telematics concept which looks at future technologies for safety, media and entertainment. It includes a glass cockpit interface that employs a heads-up display and replaces the usual gauge cluster for information on speed, battery life and more. In addition, it can be used with reality features including downloadable applications to make parking and driving easier.

The Kia Naimo is the third electric vehicle from Kia and is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum output of 107hp and 207lb-ft of torque. It also includes a 27kWh battery under the trunk floor with lithium-ion polymer technology.

Overall, the vehicle has a driving range of 124miles on a single charge and under the quick charging cycle can reach 80 per cent of its capacity in just 25minutes.

Meanwhile, the Kia Ray was originally launched back in December in Korea.
