Mazda has confirmed plans to take its Takeri concept car to the Geneva Motor Show next month. Likely to become the next generation Mazda6, the Takeri, as well as featuring the brand’s new design language boasts the Japanese carmaker’s new i-ELOOP regenerative braking system.
The mid-sized saloon is the first Mazda car to feature regenerative braking, with i-ELOOP being unique in it converts kinetic energy to electricity during deceleration and stores it in an electric double-layer capacitor. The power is used to run the vehicle’s electric components, thereby reducing the load on the engine and increasing fuel economy by up to 10 percent.
Further fuel efficient technologies featured on the car include the use of the SKYACTIV-D engine coupled to the six-speed SKYACTIV automatic transmission including i-stop system.
Joining the Takeri on the Mazda stand will be the latest MX-5 2012 edition and the brand new CX-5.
