Americans are becoming more conscious about fuel economy when making vehicle purchases – at least if the latest figures from the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute are to be believed.
It reported that average fuel economy of new vehicles sold in the US during January reached 23.0mpg – that’s an increase of 0.8mpg compared to December.
They put together an eco-driving index which estimates the average monthly emissions generated by an individual US driver. It came in at 0.86 in November, 2011 – that’s down 14 per cent compared to October, 2007.
