Ford sets sights on top spot with Focus – EcoBoost success

The Ford Fiesta is on track to be this year’s top selling global car on the B-platform: and now Ford wants its Focus model (pictured) to take the overall top-selling global nameplate prize too.

According to Polk global industry data, Ford has both the best-selling B- and C- car platforms. Overall, new registrations of the Ford Focus reached 737,856 models at the end of September; while Fiesta registrations reached 560,061 over the same period. Ford Focus Yellow

In addition, Ford is hoping to sell more than 520,000 models with EcoBoost engines since the environmentally friendly engine was introduced at the end of 2009.

According to the statistics, Ford is the only brand with three of the top 10 best-selling vehicles in the world. The Focus stands at number one; the Fiesta at number five; and the F-Series is the fourth with 576,339 models sold.

In the USA alone, Ford is on track to sell in excess of 2.2million vehicles for the year: which will be the second successive year it has topped the two million sales mark.
