There’s always been something cool about ordering pizza – not having to cook and not even having to go out to collect it yourself. And now there’s something green about it too – because your next pizza delivery might just arrive via an electric car.
That’s because Domino’s has taken delivery of two Renault Twizy electric cars (pictured).
Based in Swindon, the Twizys will be used to ensure the piping hot cargo arrives swiftly and safely. With the company offering deliveries until 5am, the electric cars are a smart option: allowing Domino’s to nip quickly around residential areas without waking the neighbours.
In addition, the Renault Twizy is highly economical and has zero exhaust emissions with no road tax or fuel bills. It is simply charged from a 13amp socket and has an official range of up to 60miles.
James Swift, who is a franchisee of Domino’s in Swindon, believes the vehicles will be a fantastic addition.
“We are extremely happy with our Twizys as for us they are the perfect run around for delivering our piping hot pizzas quickly, responsibly and most importantly with minimal running costs,” he said.
“They are quite a head turner too, so it creates a great buzz for us as we like to do things differently.”
The Renault Twizy comes in a choice of three trim levels: Urban, Colour and Technic, and is priced from £6,690 including VAT. Battery hire is available from £45 per month including VAT.
