Ford to recall electric vehicles

The image of electric vehicles has taken a blow after Ford announced it would be recalling certain model year Ford Focus Electric cars (pictured).

The vehicles equipped with high intensity discharge headlights manufactured from September 15, 2011-May 06, 2013 qualify for the recall; alongside Ford Focus ST vehicles featuring the same headlights that were manufactured from February 16, 2012-May 07, 2013.

The problem revolves around a wiring incompatibility which means the front side marker lamps may not function adequately. As such, the vehicles fail to meet the Federal Motor Vehicle safety standard.

Ford is set to notify owners with dealers to handle the assembly wiring without charge.
