Porsche reveals plans for second plug-in hybrid debut

The Frankfurt Motor Show is already looking like a green car showcase: but now one of the world's leading supercar makers has added its weight to the environmental theme of the motoring showcase.

Porsche will use the event to debut its second plug-in hybrid production vehicle - the Porsche 918 Spyder.

Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid
Since its inception, the idea behind the 918 Spyder was to produce a high performance hybrid. It will offer 887bhp and will be able to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.8seconds while offering average fuel consumption of between 71.3mpg and 78.4mpg. Electricity consumption will be 12.5-13kWh per 100km.

The vehicle will go on display alongside the Porsche Panamera SE Hybrid plug-in hybrid, which is already on sale in Germany for 100,409 euros. It offers fuel consumption of 76mpg with electricity consumption at 16.2Wh per 100km.
