Toyota to display fuel cell vehicle

We won't have to wait much longer for another glimpse of Toyota's fuel cell vehicle: with the FCV Concept set to be unveiled on January 6.

As part of the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the FCV Concept will take centre stage introducing its fuel cell test mule for the first time: which has logged thousands of miles of testing on US roads.

The vehicle is said to be a practical implementation of the fuel cell car that Toyota will launch in 2015. It will boast a driving range of at least 311miles with refuelling taking just three minutes: around the same as a petrol car.

The Toyota FCV Concept made its global debut at the Tokyo Motor Show last month with a fuel cell stack containing a power output density of 3kW/litre: that's more than twice the output of the Toyota FCHV-Adv FC stack which had an output of at least 100kW. It also comes equipped with Toyota's high efficiency boost converter.
