You might think that the green car world is all ethical and above board - as clean as the emissions its vehicles produce, you might say. However, it seems that even the green car industry is not above the occasional spat.

The revolutionary Tesla Roadster, the high-performance electric sports car, may soon have a rival in its emerging field in the form of the Volage Roadster.
French company Venturi plans to release the Volage into production in 2012, but early performance analysis suggests it will be a serious competitor to its big name rival with the ability to reach 160mph and travel for around 200 miles with the on-board battery.

The credit crunch has had more than its fair share of casualties across a number of sectors, but compared to the rest of the automotive industry green cars have performed exceptionally well. Nevertheless, even they have not been immune to the losses on Wall Street.
The latest casualty of the crunch is Tesla Motors, which is being forced into a shake-up that will include a number of lay-offs with founder and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Elon Musk stepping in as chief executive officer.

A single-speed gearbox has been selected by Tesla Motors for the their electric Roadster, BorgWarner Inc. will supply Tesla with the gearbox, as the California based company ramp up production of their sports car.
The new single-speed gearbox replaces the current two-speed fitted to the 27 roadsters currently in private hands.

In July this year we brought you news that Tesla was planning to follow up its successful Roadster model by manufacturing a saloon car. Now, more details have come to light about its plans.

His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent has become the first member of the British Royal Family to get behind the wheel of the new Tesla Roadster, the first electric sportscar to go on sale in Europe. If you’re wondering how electric car recharging stations can come to fruition then take a look at San Jose, California, where an electric car/plug-in network has been established.
Coulomb Technologies have placed 100V outlets on city streets. The idea is that registered subscribers will be allowed to use the charging stations in the future, although the concept has been criticised with electric charging and battery swap stations planned.
