Ginetta G50

Ginetta G50 car image One of the oldest and most distinguished names in the automobile sector, Ginetta has been building sports cars for both the road and racing since 1958. Now it has turned its attention to leading sports cars into a new era – with the Ginetta G50 powered purely by electricity.

History of the Ginetta G50

Ginetta personifies the fine traditions of British motoring having been founded in 1958 and producing a number of iconic and eye-catching sports cars since that date. The manufacturer has also enjoyed notable success in racing with a number of Ginetta Championships having been held in which enthusiasts race cars purely made by the British company.

Now located in Leeds, Yorkshire, Ginetta has decided to create an electric version of the G50, one of its most popular vehicles, that has proven a huge hit on the racetrack since its creation in 2008.

Environmental credentials of the Ginetta G50

The Ginetta G50 will offer the most elite group of motoring enthusiasts an environmental alternative without sacrificing performance. It is a two-seat sports car that is capable of 120mph and yet uses 100 per cent electric power thanks to state-of-the-art battery cells and a drivetrain that has been integrated by RaceTech Harnessing.

As an electric car, the Ginetta G50 will produce no emissions of its own. However, until electricity is sourced from 100 per cent renewable sources environmentalists will argue that they do not deserve the tag of “zero emission vehicles”. Nevertheless, for a car of its size and performance capabilities, the Ginetta G50 represents a massive leap forward for green technology.

Currently details about the vehicle are scant but it is believed that it will have a range of around 250 miles making this much more than a city car.
