History of the NICE MyCar
The NICE Car Company was originally founded in 2006 with the aim of producing exclusively electric cars to satisfy growing demand in the automotive industry as perceptions began to change. During its initiation concerns about the environment began to grow rapidly, as did fuel prices with oil soaring to $146 a barrel midway through 2008 and fuel prices at the pump hitting record highs.
With increased demand the launch of the NICE MyCar at the British International Motor Show could hardly have been better timed. The vehicle attracted a vast amount of attention at the show not least because it is estimated that electric cars are around 15 per cent cheaper to run than conventional vehicles.
Following the show, the vehicle was launched in the UK in autumn 2008.
Environmental credentials of the NICE MyCar
All electric vehicles boast zero emissions and the NICE MyCar is no exception. Arguments continue about the true neutrality of electric cars given the fact that their energy often comes from non-renewable sources. However, electric vehicles still produce notably fewer emissions than conventional cars even with the carbon dioxide (CO2) produced during energy generation factored in.
With environmental benefits come huge financial incentives. The NICE MyCar is exempt from the London Congestion Charge and is also free from vehicle excise duty. Perhaps the most notable savings however, come over the lifetime of the vehicle at the pump. It is estimated by the AA that fuel prices in 2008 have grown by approximately 20 per cent, which is why electric cars such as the NICE MyCar have become an increasingly attractive proposition.
The MyCar is ideal for city motoring with a range of up to 60 miles and a top speed of 40mph.
