History of the Sakura Maranello4
If you’ve never heard of Sakura before then don’t be embarrassed – it’s one of the newest contenders in the electric car market. Based in London it has already made a name for itself selling electric bikes such as the Sakura Mustang and electric mopeds, including the Sakura S50. The S50 is particularly popular as it needs no petrol and is emission free, with Sakura claiming that no other electric moped can match it for price and performance.
Sakura made its first steps into electric car manufacturing with the Sakura Maranello4, which was already available in Italy from the EFFIDI Automotive Group. In the UK, it is seen as a contender for the G-Wiz and answers increasing demand for electric vehicles for use in city driving after the implementation of the congestion charge and rising fuel prices.
Environmental credentials of the Sakura Maranello4
The Sakura Maranello4 appeals to those looking to adapt to a new lifestyle – one in which they leave zero emissions behind when driving, as the car has been designed to be driven in the city giving motorists freedom of movement and ease of parking.
Certainly if you’re a regular motorway traveller the Sakura Maranello4 won’t hold much appeal with a top speed of just 30mph. However, for slow-moving traffic its ideal as no matter how often you are forced to brake and accelerate there are no emissions produced. As there are no emissions, the vehicle is exempt from both vehicle excise duty and the congestion charge.
What separates the Sakura Maranello4 from the competition, however, is that it includes numerous extras not usually associated with electric vehicles. For example, there is all-round independent suspension, tinted windows, a stainless steel chassis, internally adjustable wing mirrors and fully sealed maintenance free batteries. All of these extra features come as standard.
