Stevens Vehicles Ltd – zero emission electric cars and electric vans

Steven Vehicles Ltd is a British manufacturer of zero emission electric eco-vehicles. The Zecar has space for five adults and plenty of space for luggage. The Zevan makes perfect business sense… it is big enough to take CHEPS and Euro pallets and handles up to 450kg payload. Zevan is the best for the environment, good for PR and great for advertising.

Firstly, electric vehicles don’t use any power (or emit any fumes) when stationary – unlike idling engines. Secondly, even when moving, electric traction is more efficient – 70% of the energy is used for traction compared to 30% for engines (where most of fuel’s energy is actually converted to heat). Electric is better. Then, Zecar and Zevan are the best in terms of electric vehicles. For a start, they are manufactured close to market here in the UK.

Then they are based on a design for a low cost and low environmental impact – from well to wheel – vehicle. The design incorporates few components and minimal complexity, leveraging existing proven components and technologies as far as possible. This approach minimises its environmental footprint both for toxic releases and greenhouse gases, and so it’s this philosophy which is supported by the most thorough research – far in favour of complex hybrid solutions. This design approach; combined with the vehicles’ light weight means that Zecar and Zevan emits half as much CO2 as the best petrol and diesel vehicles over their lifetime – even assuming their electric power is sourced from dirty coal power stations. So, when you also factor in cleaner sources of electricity, like solar power, our carbon footprint is virtually eliminated.
