The UK government has made a dramatic slow-down on its biofuel targets set for motor fuel. Transport Minister, Andrew Adonis has today announced plans to reduce the yearly obligation for the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) to allow for the development more environmentally sustainable biofuels.

The AA expects we will become a nation of car sharers following latest research conducted by AA Insurance. Almost half (47 per cent) of the population are now considering car sharing according to the AA’s research, despite only one in ten (11 per cent) people admitting to currently doing so more than once week.
And petrol seems to be the key reason – 51 per cent say that they are more likely to consider car sharing now because of high fuel costs.

According to research by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), you can save up to £2 of fuel per week by simply reversing your car into a parking space, so you drive away forwards. INEOS world’s third largest chemicals company and a leading manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products has developed the technology to produce commercial quantities of bio ethanol fuel from landfill waste. INEOS Bio, a subsidy who are responsible for the development, claims that this second generation bio ethanol reduces greenhouse gases from car use by 90%.
