Leading automobile technology company, Roush Technologies will be displaying its latest bi-fuel Internal Combustion Engine conversion at the Cenex hosted UK National Low Carbon Vehicle event at the Millbrook Proving Ground today.
Roush will be revealing its modified Ford Transit which can operate on its traditional petrol engine or run on compressed hydrogen gas. The concept is designed to demonstrate that hydrogen technology can offer a real, viable solution for commercial vehicles.

Norway is making a head start in the race to establish a hydrogen economy with a little help from motor manufacturer, Mazda.
Mazda Motor Corporation is leasing around thirty of their RX-8 Hydrogen RE (rotary engine) prototype vehicles the Hydrogen Road of Norway (HyNor) project.
Mazda will seek to assess the hydrogen car’s driving performance while on loan to the project. It will be the first time the hydrogen car will be in regular use on public roads outside Japan.

The University of Glamorgan has been shortlisted for a top prize thanks to the development of a hydrogen-fuelled bus.
Glamorgan student, Jonathan Williams and supervising Professor Guoping Liu developed the 16 passenger bus to run on a hydrogen fuel cell which generates electricity and charges high-efficiency batteries to operate the vehicle. The bus also makes us of regenerative braking to maximise energy efficiency, achieving a top speed of 70 mph and a range of up to 250 miles.

Parliament adopted a legislative report on hydrogen powered motor vehicles today. MEPs point out that the successful introduction of hydrogen-powered vehicles on the European market will also depend on whether the appropriate hydrogen filling station network can be established in time. The Commission, says the House, should, therefore, look into measures to support the establishment of a Europe-wide filling-station network for hydrogen powered vehicles.

The world’s first hydrogen driven motorsport race took place this weekend the BBC report. The Formula Zero championship took place in Rotterdam with go-kart teams from around Europe taking part. Each go-kart was operated by commercial fuel cell technology which converts hydrogen into electricity.
A Spanish team won the award for the fastest lap, but the Dutch walked away with the honour of winning the endurance race.

Zero emissions, hydrogen fuel cell cars now on the road in the U.S.
The first Honda FCX Clarity customers have taken delivery of their zero emission cars in California. Up to 200 customers will begin leasing the fuel cell vehicles in the United States and Japan over the next three years.
Film director Ron Yerxa was the first customer to get the keys to an FCX Clarity, followed by actress Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband, Christopher Guest.

ETA (Environmental Transport Association) reported today that Nissan have launched a first; a “green” 4×4. The latest vehicle from Nissan, a fuel cell car that runs on hydrogen and emits only water, was trailed on the streets of London. It is not yet known when the vehicle will become commercially available.
The 4×4 can cover 300 miles on a single tank of hydrogen.

Suzuki Motor Corporation has received approval from Japan’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, to test their compact fuel cell vehicle on public roads. The vehicle is based on their compact SX4 model.
