The green elite: the sub-100g/km CO2 list

Ever wondered what the greenest diesel and petrol cars on the market today? Well, TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk has put together this handy guide to help you select one of the greenest cars currently available or imminent.

Once upon a time, it would have unimaginably that there would even one car to put in this category, let alone the healthy looking list we can present today. Those were the days when we thought sub-120g/km was an achievement. I’m looking forward to sitting at my desk in a few years time, writing a sub-80g/km list…. Well, for now, at least, these cars are the green elite and hopefully as time goes on, the list will only get longer.

If you want to squeeze every last mile out of your tank or just want to do your bit to cut down on oil consumption, then one of these cars below could be just the vehicle for you:


smart fortwo CDi with emissions from just 86g/km of CO2 and combined mileage up to 85.6 mpg.

Toyota Auris HSD (hybrid) with emissions from 89g/km of CO2 and combined mileage of 74.3 mpg.

Toyota Prius with emissions from just 89g/km of CO2 and combined mileage of 72.4mpg.

Skoda Fabia Estate GreenLine with emissions from just 89g/km of CO2 and combined mileage of up to 83.1mpg.

Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion: with emissions from just 91g/km of CO2 and combined of 80.7 mpg.

SEAT Ibiza ECOmotive with emissions from just 92g/km of CO2 and combined mileage of 80.7mpg.

Lexus CT200h with emissions of just 94g/km and a combined mileage of 68.9mpg.

Nissan Micra: the next generation Micra set to go on sale late in 2010 is expected to have emissions from 95g/km of CO2.
